Community Medical Centers is the largest health care system in central California with three acute-care hospitals and a dozen facilities. It serves as the only burn and Level 1 trauma centers from Sacramento to Los Angeles – 15,000 square miles , nine counties – in an area approximately the size of Rhode Island, New Jersey and Connecticut combined.
It has been our pleasure to host NurseTV, Marc Prescott, Matthew Glasser and the NurseTV crews twice in the last year (2008). Not only were they extremely sensitive to HIPAA issues, but they were concerned about our patients’ experiences and well-being before, during and after the filming.
Their work was top-notch, professional and they were easy to deal with even after they left and we had a featured nurse who wanted something removed from her segment before airing. They were more than cooperative during the editing process and
immediately removed a small section she did not want to air.
Over the last 20 years I have worked with crews that ranged from “60 Minute” investigational interviews to “Trauma: Life in the ER.” We’ve had cable and television crews from shows like “Maternity Ward” and “Special Delivery” at our hospital for a month at a time. NurseTV has been one of the most professional crews (with sensitivity) that we have ever worked with.
The segments featuring our nurses were very positive and they, along with our employees, clinicians and administrators, found the segments very inspiring. Our experiences working with NurseTV were exceptional and we will welcome them back again in the future.
